I’ve been very looking forward for this catch up with Tf and Tr. The night turned out to be great. good food, good drinks and most importantly good companions!
We headed out for dinner at the newly open Shiro Izakaya (located at the foot of CommBank Perth branch). I picked the spot since it’s like right in the middle of Helvetica, Green House and Little Sparrow - so drink is just short stroll away.
The menu is short and precise, nothing overly fancy. We picked good old agadashi tofu, tofu salad, teriyaki chicken, spider maki, and special GTr Salmon.
The highlight of the dinner was probably the tofu salad and salmon GTr. The tofu salad was just cold tofu served with a sweet creamy mayo chestnut sauce topped with alfalfa. It was a hot night and this dish was perfect for it. Salmon GTr was salmon served in 3 ways: salmon nigiri, pan fried salmon and salmon sashimi. The nigiri was served a smokey sauce which compliments the fatty-ness of the salmon. We all loved it very much. Although the salmon steak was slightly overcooked. The other dishes were ordinary to other Japanese restaurant in Perth.
But I got to mention it was a lovely environment for dining (if you exclude the mozzies). They are located in the heart of a park area over-looking one of the busiest spot in CBD. You can tell they spent lots of heart in designing the dining area, with glass panels all around the building that can be opened in summer night (again exclude the mozzies)

AND after dinner we headed over to Helvetica (gosh I’ve been DYING to go there) for a drink. TR brought me a Penicillin which the only ingredient I remembered was honey and lemon. Gosh that was strong but pleasant. The best was the Fish House Punch which cost $35 but you get this massive jar and cups to pass around. All we did was all dipped our straws into it and took mega sip REFRESSSSSHING! again I can’t remember what was in it beside peach slices again. Tr watched the bar tender making the drinks and she reported there were lots of alcohol in the punch GREAAAAT. Everything was just perfect there that I wish I can call this my regular drink spot :p
