little sisto

So, once again, it’s my usual tuesday off day. I’m usually quite but today is a bit of a yay-and-nay.  Today is also day 1/3 of my study break. next week I will be off doing my first written-close-book-3-hour-exam since uni 3rd years; and also first oral exam since registration. I am a little stressed, ok, a bit more than little. It’s doesn’t help that I have to be house sitting alone. Nevertheless, soldier on.

So to keep my spirit up I’ve got to start day one with a nice cup of long black.  While I was out doing bits and pieces I dropped by this new cafe in Doubleview.  I adore these neighbourhood cafes that tuck away from the busy CBD yet serve amazing coffee (and home style cakes) and with friendly staff. And Little Sisto is definitely one of those little gem.

Five senses beans + synesso + mazzer grinder = win. good beans, good gears, good barista; how can you go wrong with this combo?  I’ve noticed Five Senses Darkhorse has been quite popular in the last year or so.  Very happy trying a diff blend. The long black was a little more acidic and lighter on the palette than the Darkhorse. I like the acidity note so that suits me perfectly. Temperature was also perfect.

The interior design of the cafe was neatly done. It was simple, crisp with hint of characteristic (there’s also a beautiful garden  at the back, bonus).  While I was waiting for my coffee I can’t help but mesmerized by the beautiful interior (bronwnie points +)

It was quiet at that time I placed my order and I thought to myself what a shame this little place is not yet discovered yet. But before I knew it the morning caffeine crowds all popped in at the same time!  Being a new cafe I guess it still needs a bit of fine-tuning, but overall it’s a very lovely cafe.

ps. I was being naughty and ordered banana bread as side to my coffee.  photo omitted due to my lack of ability to eat with appropriate table manner. But I can tell you the banana bread was delicious and full of home flavour.  I’ve noticed they also do a range of organic juices and sandies for lunch. Can’t wait for my next visit !
